International Colloquium for Sharia Economics Department 2022

Yogyakarta (27/7) – Sharia Economics Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held EKSYAR Undegraduate Research: International Colloquium (EURICO) 2022 which took place for two days, 26-27 July 2022. The event was held This online event was attended by Deputy Dean I FEBI, Head of Study Program, Secretary of Study Program, as well as lecturers and students of Sharia Economics Study Program.
The first day's event was an International Webinar with the theme "Introduction of Islamic Economics Research: A Design and Approach."This webinar was opened by Mr. Dr.Abdul Qoyum, SEI, M.Sc.Fin., as Head of Sharia Economics Study Program, then continued with a presentation session on "Current Issues in Islamic Economics" by Prof.Dr.Raditya Sukmana, SE, MA (Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Islamic Economics, Airlangga University) and the material "Research Methodology in Islamic Economics: Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed Methods" by Assoc.Prof.Dr.Hassanudin Bin Mohd Thas Thaker (UCSI University, Malaysia) guided by Achmad Nurdany, SEI, SE, MEK
The second day's event was a Research Colloquium in the form of a Thesis Proposal Presentation and Thesis Paper Presentation by Sharia Economics Study Program students.This event began with remarks by the Secretary of the Sharia Economics Study Program, Mrs. Lailatis Syarifah, MA, then continued with remarks by the Deputy Dean I of FEBI, namely Dr.Misnen Ardiansyah, SE, M.Si., Ak., CA., ACPA., and continued with the Thesis Proposal Presentation and Thesis Paper Presentation.The Thesis Proposal Presentation was attended by 19 Sharia Economics Study Program students, while the Thesis Paper Presentation was attended by 2 Sharia Economics Study Program students who had taken the Munaqosah exam but had not yet graduated.Each Thesis proposal and Thesis Paper will be commented on by threediscussants(one of whom is the Thesis Supervisor) who is a Sharia Economics Study Program Lecturer.
The event ended with the announcement of the winners of Best Proposal and Best Paper.Thesis proposal with the title "Analysis of E-Commerce Competition Strategy in Yogyakarta using the Game Theory Method: Case Study of Tokopedia vs Shopee" written by Muhammad Zia Ulhaq was selected as the Best Proposal.Meanwhile, the Best Paper category was won by Amar Kurniadi with the title "Determinants of Industrial Sector Growth in Indonesia for the 2011-2022 Period."The thesis papers presented at this activity will be published inthe Bulletin of Islamic EconomicsandSunan Kalijaga: Islamic Economics Journalwhich is a journal published by the Sharia Economics Study Program.
According to Muhammad Zia Ulhaq, Best Proposal Winner, "Through this event, students are required to present a thesis proposal with the aim of making students competent in presenting research proposals and obtaining suggestions and input fromdiscussantsto improve their research."It is hoped that the Sharia Economics Study Program will continue this event every year to motivate students to complete quality theses on time and get publication opportunities in reputable journals," he said.
According to Amar Kurniadi, Best Paper Champion, "This event provides very meaningful knowledge to students, especially when they want to write and publish their thesis in a journal."Hopefully in the future there will be more outreach to students so that the number of participants is much greater and perhaps we can invite motivators who can arouse students' interest in publishing their thesis in a journal," he said.
