WEBINAR ACADEMIC RECHARGING: "RESEARCH IN ISLAMIC ECONOMICS: CURRENT ISSUES AND FUTURE TRENDS”

Sharia Economics Study Program on November 11 2020 held an Academic Recharging webinar: "Research in Islamic Economics: Current Issues and Future Trends" with resource person Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hudaib Adam Smith (Business School, University of Glasgow Editor Journal of Islamic Accounting and Business Research /Emerald Scopus Q2) which was moderated by Mrs. Dr. Sunaryati, M.Sc. (Lecturer in Sharia Economics, FEBI UIN SUKA). This webinar was via the zoom application which was attended by 130 participants. Uniquely, this webinar used 2 languages, English and Indonesian .

The next session after the event opened, the resource persons began to present material regarding how the current development of Islamic economics has begun to develop and compared with the development of Islamic economics in the past.According to him, the development of Islamic economics is divided into 3, namely Islam in ancient times, today, and the development of Islamic culture.Not only that, the resource person discussed the challenges in each era of the development of Islamic economics.The next discussion is in the form of comparing neoclassical economic theory with Islamic economic theory. According to him, in neoclassical economic theory there are many things that harm each other, unlike Islamic economic theory which upholds a sense of justice.The current issue regarding the Covid-19 pandemic which is hampering economic activities and the development of Islamic economics is also explained.He hopes that with this pandemic, Islamic economics will be able to overcome the economic problems that are starting to emerge.

The final session was a question and answer session, there were lots of questions that showed the enthusiasm of the participants in taking part in this webinar, then some of the most interesting questions were selected and answered enthusiastically by the resource person and moderator.Selected questions will receive a door prize.It is hoped that after this webinar the participants will be ready to develop the Islamic economy in the current pandemic era and improve Islamic sunnah.
