The Covid-19 pandemic requires everyone, including students and campus activists, to adapt to the situation. This is what the 2020 Sharia Economic Fair(SEF) committee did, Covid-19 did not dampen the enthusiasm of the committee to continue enlivening this special day for Sharia Economics at UIN Sunan Kalijaga online. On Saturday, November 7 2020, the event held was National Seminar session I with a theme that looked very closely at current issues, namely "Sharia Economics: Solutions to Indonesia's Economic Recession".
This event started at 08.30 WIB which began with the reading of the holy verses of the Koran by one of the 2020 Sharia Economics students named Fazlurrahman Arqoun.Don't forget to play the song Indonesia Raya to foster a sense of nationalism which was then accompanied by the playing of the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Hymn and remarks from the Head of the Sharia Economics Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga and Deputy Dean 3 FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga. They hope that this seminar will run smoothly.Dr.Ahmad Salehudin (WD 3 FEBI UIN SUKA) in his speech expressed his opinion that the theme of this seminar was quite provocative. He also said that this reminded him of "the Caliph as a Solution" and he hoped that this would not be the same as that.
According to the first speaker, Dr.Rifky Ismail, Deputy Secretary General IFSB Covid-19 has caused a global recession, which is the first recession caused by health factors. And the recession in our country (Indonesia) is not as severe as the recession in other countries.Sharia economic policies implemented by other countries that use the sharia economic system include ensuring the availability of liquidity, prioritizing small business financing and lowering Macroprudential and Microprudential.
This is different from Indonesia, which does not use a full sharia economic system but is mixed, but still uses Islamic values in its policies. One of the roles/policies of Islamic economics carried out by Indonesia is empowering the Sharia economy through ahalal value chainecosystem .One of the programs is the economic independence of Islamic boarding schools and theSharia Business & Sharia MSMElinkage program.
The second speaker is Dr.Widodo Ramadyanto from BKF Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia.According to him, the thing that makes people interested in Sharia Economics, including non-Islamic ones, is because the system is more promising. For example, in terms of investing in shares, the thing that makes non-Islamic and Islamic investors interested is because they know that companies whose shares are classified as sharia shares do not have as much debt compared to companies whose shares are conventional. The Ministry of Finance projects that Indonesia's economic growth this year will still be negative. The speaker also explained that the growth rate of business fields in general starting from the third quarter of this year continues to increase.
This pandemic has hampered economic growth so that structural reforms are needed in the fields of education, health, taxation and others. What the government is doing to deal with this impact is increasing the amount of state debt and attracting investment. There are two government policies this year, namelyextraordinarypolicy and supportingreopening, while in 2021recoveryand reform.
The speaker also explained the direction of government policy in 2021 with his assumptions. Most of the state's income will come from taxation. The APBN in the education sector is budgeted at 550.5 T, health 169.7 T, social protection 421.7 T, infrastructure 413.8 T, food health 104.2 T, tourism 15.7 T and the ICT sector 29.6 T. In fact, the Ministry of Finance has prepared 3 scenarios for government policy directions to recover the economy in the future. This shows the seriousness of the Indonesian Ministry of Finance in facing the impact of this pandemic.According to him, the Sharia economy has opportunities by driving the sharia economic industry and supporting the government'scounter cyclicalefforts .
The first session of the National Seminar ran smoothly. This event closed with a question and answer session between the presenters and seminar participants, most of whom were university students. There were lots of questions asked by the participants. This shows the high enthusiasm of the participants.Of course, this question was answered very well by the presenters.Something simple but we can do is increase the level of domestic consumption, especially in MSMEs.And as students of course we have to keep learning and try to help find ideas/solutions to deal with Covid. This also helps provide information/explanations to the surrounding community so that there are no misunderstandings in society which will trigger divisions and riots.
