Dissemination of Internship Practice Implementation in Preparing Students for the Workplace

Yogyakarta (18/11) - In the 5th semester of the Islamic Economics Study Program, students are required to participate in Field Work Practice (PKL). This activity is designed to offer students practical work experience, ensuring they are well-prepared for the working environment upon graduation.
On Saturday, November 18, 2023, the Islamic Economics Study Program UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held an online socialization for Field Work Practice (PKL) via the Zoom Meeting application. The event featured Dr. Abdul Qoyyum, SEI., M.Sc., Fin, the Head of the Islamic Economics Study Program, as the speaker, and Riswanti Budi Sekaringsih, M.Sc. as the moderator. Around 100 participants, including 5th-semester students of the Islamic Economics Study Program, attended the event.
The objective of the socialization was to explain the submission process and implementation procedures of PKL, as well as to inform students about the permissible PKL locations for those in the Islamic Economics Study Program. Dr. Abdul Qoyyum, SEI., M.Sc., Fin, stated that "PKL serves as an initial step in familiarizing students with the world of work in the financial sector, particularly in the context of Islamic economics, and in honing their expertise in the field of study outlined in the curriculum."
The PKL activities will take place after the Odd Semester Final Exams 2023/2024 in January 2024 and will last for a minimum of 21 days. Subsequently, students are required to submit their PKL reports in the following semester. It is hoped that upon completing the PKL program, students will be able to enhance their abilities and gain practical work experience in the professional world.
Despite being conducted online via the Zoom application, the socialization activities for the Field Work Practice of the Islamic Economics Study Program were successful. The virtual format did not dampen the participants' enthusiasm to inquire about the implementation of this practice.
