Sharia Economics Students Have the Opportunity to Intern at ITPC Shanghai China: Opening Global Opportunities in the World of Trade

Yogyakarta (05/02) - Aria Dwi Dharmala and Amanda Oktaviolani, Sharia Economics students class of 2021 along with other FEBI students who participated in student exchanges at the Wuxi Institute of Technology China got a golden opportunity to intern at the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Shanghai China. The internship, which lasted from January 8 to 26, 2024, became a foundation for them to understand the dynamics of global trade, especially between Indonesia and China.

As an institution under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, ITPC Shanghai has a strategic role in promoting Indonesia's superior products and facilitating trade between the two countries. The internship experience at ITPC Shanghai not only provides insight into trade mechanisms, but also presents an opportunity for students to explore bilateral economic cooperation between Indonesia and China.

During the internship, the Sharia Economics students were involved in analyzing the Chinese trade market. They also had the task of analyzing specific products that have export potential to the Chinese market, such as coconut products, tea, coffee, and swallow's nest. This analysis process not only provided an in-depth understanding of Chinese market preferences, but also honed their economic analysis skills and product marketing strategies. Students gained knowledge about Chinese exports and imports, analyzed the Chinese trade market, and each student had one specific product to analyze for export opportunities to China such as coconut products, tea, coffee, swallow nests, and so on.

On the last day of the internship, students had the opportunity to present their final project on Chinese export product opportunities in front of the Director of ITPC Shanghai and other leaders. The presentation allowed the students to share their ideas and strategies in facing the challenges of the global market, including the opportunities for products to be exported to China.

This experience certainly provides new insights and knowledge for students so that they can apply the knowledge and experience they gain in supporting the development of Indonesian trade. The internship opportunity at ITPC Shanghai is not just an experience, but an important step for students to open a window of opportunity in the increasingly wide-open world of global trade. With the insights they gain, it is hoped that this young generation can become a driving force for sustainable economic development.
