Carving a New History! The Dedication of Sharia Economics Students as Election Supervisors in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Documentation during their tenure as members of the election supervisory committee.
Malaysia - Three Sharia Economics exchange students from the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business contributed to the conduct of the 2024 elections in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The students, Solihuddin, Agiel Risfahanif, and Umay Shafira, participated as members of the election supervisory committee, specifically overseeing the polling stations (TPS) held at the World Trade Center Kuala Lumpur, with approximately 250,000 Indonesian nationals voting. Solihuddin stated, "The tenure as election supervisors does not only span the election day itself but starts from the beginning of February until February 24th, 2024, beginning with guidance on election procedures provided by the KPPS training and the supervisory committee."
Solihuddin shared several challenges faced during their tenure as the supervisory committee, including frequent misconceptions between the committee members and the election supervisors. Another issue was the inaccuracy in scheduling, with events planned for 03.00 PM but not commencing until 06.00 PM.
Despite these challenges, the experience was invaluable for them. They gained new insights into the complexities of conducting elections abroad but still enjoyed the moment and were grateful to be part of this election.
