Towards World Class Standards: Sharia Economics Study Program Invites Curriculum Reviewers from Various Countries

Yogyakarta (22/03) - Education is a crucial foundation in the growth of individuals and the progress of a nation. To ensure continuous improvement in the quality of education, the Sharia Economics Study Program (Prodi) of UIN Sunan Kalijaga (UINSUKA) held an Outcome Based Education (OBE) based curriculum review workshop to evaluate student learning that has been established so far. This workshop aims as a platform for the Islamic Economics Study Program to improve the curriculum, so as to improve the quality of education and achieve international accreditation from the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA).

The Curriculum Review, which was held as a Hybrid on March 22, 2024, became an important event involving lecturers, practitioners, and students of Islamic Economics. In this workshop, participants focused on evaluating the outlook of the existing curriculum, by comparing its relevance with curricula from elsewhere. This aims to improve the relevance of the skills possessed by students through the establishment and measurement of optimal Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLOs).

This workshop had two different sessions. The first session was attended by practitioners and academics. While in the second session, it was attended by Alumni and Students. The discussions that took place during the workshop covered various aspects related to the curriculum, such as the determination of Graduate Learning Outcomes (SLOs), the importance of Vision and Mission in determining SLOs, and methods of measuring SLOs.

The existence of this Curriculum Review Workshop is not only a forum for discussion, but also a concrete step in improving the quality of education that is always pursued by UINSUKA Sharia Economics Study Program. From this workshop, it is hoped that innovative ideas will be born that can lead to curriculum improvement, so as to produce quality graduates who are ready to face future challenges so that they can have international accreditation.
