Yogyakarta (29/05) - The Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business (FEBI), UIN Sunan Kalijaga (UINSUKA) Yogyakarta organized a Studium General with the theme “Indonesia 2045 at the Crossroads: Challenges and Opportunities to Become a High Income Country”. The event was held at FEBI Theatrical Hall UINSUKA and presented speakers namely Teguh Dartanto, Ph.D. as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at the University of Indonesia (UI) with Fahmy Akbar I. S.E., M.M. as Commissioner of Gunung Kidul Regional Bank & BPR Central Java as Keynote Speech.
Vice Dean of FEBI, Dr. Sunaryati, SE, M.Si., when giving a speech said that this Stadium General is important for students as a provision in knowing the challenges that must be faced and what opportunities we have to help increase Indonesia's economic growth in the future, especially in 2045.
In his presentation, Mr. Teguh said that Indonesia's current condition is the same as Thailand's economic condition in 2010 and Malaysia in 2004. Which means that Indonesia is still very behind compared to neighboring countries looking at the level of economic growth.
He also said that the low level of education in Indonesia is one of the main challenges that must be overcome to achieve Indonesia's vision 2045. The lack of access and quality of education has a significant impact on the ability of the younger generation to enter the job market. “Why are many young people still unemployed? We must know what kind of labor is needed by the industry.”
It is hoped that the level of education and skills of students as a workforce in Indonesia will increase, so as to reduce the unemployment rate among young people and maximize Indonesia's economic potential in 2045.
