Prof. Girijasankar Mallik from Western Sydney University Visits FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga

Yogyakarta (25/10) - The Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) UIN Sunan Kalijaga warmly welcomed Prof. Girijasankar Mallik from Western Sydney University (Australia). The professor's visit took place on October 24-25, 2023, spanning two days. Throughout this period, Prof. Mallik actively engaged in various forum activities.
On the first day of his visit, Prof. Girijasankar Mallik delivered a lecture at the FEBI theater on the fifth floor. The topic of the lecture was "Current Issues of Islamic Economic and Business," featured his research findings. Subsequently, a "Research Sharing for FEBI Lecturers" session was held, which was compulsory for FEBI lecturers.
On the second day, he shared insights into the Community Development program under the theme "Business Development for SMEs in Yogyakarta." This event was held in Kaliurang, Cangkringan, Sleman, with the objective of offering extensive support to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the area. The program sought to bolster the capacity and competitiveness of SMEs through training, mentoring, and other resources. By enhancing the knowledge and skills of SME owners in areas such as operations, marketing, and finance management, it is hoped that they can be more effective in addressing market challenges and achieve sustainable growth.
Additionally, the program aimed to empower the local economy by promoting innovation and enhancing the quality of products and services offered by SMEs. By fostering innovation and creativity, SMEs can better adapt to market dynamics and meet consumer needs. Therefore, the primary objective of this program is not only to promote the sustainability of SMEs in Yogyakarta but also to augment their broader contribution to local economic development.
