SCHOOL OF VILLAGE-OWNED ENTERPRISE GOVERNANCE

The Islamic Economics Study Program, in collaboration with PKN STAN, Prasetiya Mulya University, and the Ministry of Villages, Underdeveloped Regions, and Transmigration (Kemendes PDTT), held a School of Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) Governance. The event was conducted online via the Zoom meeting platform with 400 participants from across Indonesia. The program spanned 4 days, from Monday, September 13, 2021, to Thursday, September 16, 2021, featuring multiple sessions for material presentations. Esteemed speakers from FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga, PKN STAN, Prasetiya Mulya University, and Ministry of Villages, Underdeveloped Regions and Transmigration generously shared their knowledge. Notable figures such as the Head of the Islamic Economics Study Program UIN Sunan Kalijaga, the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) UIN Sunan Kalijaga, and other distinguished speakers also graced the event with their presence.
During his speech, Dr. Abdul Qoyyum M. Sc. Fin expressed his hope that this event could serve as a gathering for all of us to collectively build BUMDESA and that it could be beneficial for the development of BUMDESA. He also expressed his wish that the existence of BUMDESA could be enhanced and contribute to the development of the rural economy.

On another occasion, Dr. Afdawaiza S.Ag., M. Ag, the Dean of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga, highlighted that the poverty rate in Indonesia stood at 10.14% as of March 2021, based on data from the Central Statistics Agency.

He pointed out that the top 3 largest numbers of poor people as of July 2021 were concentrated on the island of Java, with a higher poverty rate in rural areas due to the concentration of development in cities, although during the pandemic, the poverty rate was higher in urban areas. The government has passed a law concerning villages, and President Jokowi has encouraged the development of communities in villages. In light of this, the President believes that revitalization is essential for the advancement of BUMDESA, as also highlighted by the government. Taking into account the government's encouragement and policies, FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga aims to contribute to the revitalization and development of the village economy to address the economic challenges faced by Indonesia. Therefore, the School of Village-Owned Enterprise Governance was held with the hope that in the future, it can assist the government in mitigating socio-economic issues in society, particularly in rural areas.

After delivering these remarks, the Dean of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga opened the event by reciting the basmalah. The collaboration between the four institutions/agencies was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and will continue into the future. This collaboration aims to collectively aid and foster economic growth in rural areas.
