ACADEMIC RECHARGING WEBINAR: ISLAMIC BANKING AND NATIONAL ECONOMY

The academic recharging webinar series for the Islamic economics study program has entered its third session. On this occasion, the Islamic economics study program held a webinar under the theme "Academic Recharging: Islamic Banking and the National Economy" featuring Herwin Bustaman, MBA (Director of Bank Permata Syariah) as the speaker. The session was moderated by Dr. Abdul Qoyum, S.E.I., M. Sc. Fin. (Head of Islamic Economics Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, UIN Sunan Kalijaga). The event was attended by the vice dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Mrs. Sunaryati. The webinar was conducted via the Zoom platform and was attended by 150 participants. Commencing with the rendition of the Indonesian national anthem, the UIN Sunan Kalijaga hymn, and the UIN Sunan Kalijaga hymn, the event proceeded with an uplifting address from the vice dean. She was inspired by the event and believed it could enhance awareness in addressing economic challenges during the Covid-19 era.
The subsequent segment of the event featured a presentation that commenced with an overview of the history of Islamic banks in Indonesia, the evolution of Islamic banking, and the present state of Islamic banks. This webinar diverged from the norm by placing a greater emphasis on discussion between the speaker and the participants. Numerous participants inquired about the distinctions between Islamic banks and conventional banks, the strategies Islamic banks are employing to navigate the current pandemic, and all queries were met with compelling responses. The abundance of questions underscored the participants' enthusiasm for the discussion during this webinar. The concluding session culminated with the speaker imparting advice to the younger generation, urging them to become a responsible and discerning cohort capable of effecting positive economic transformation.
